  1. Persistent feelings of fear, anxiety, and worry
  2. Persistent feelings of sadness and anger;
  3. A tendency to overreact to seemingly normal situations
  4. Reclusiveness (even from family members, friends, and other kids)
  5. Less of interest in activities they love to do before
  6. Trouble with concentration, clarity, and making decisions
  7. Enjoying violent acts like killing animals or setting fires
  8. Changes in eating and sleeping patterns
  9. Dealing with nightmares or hearing voices that aren’t there
  10. An unexplained drop in grades at school
  11. Expressing suicidal thoughts
  12. Alcohol and/or drug use

If your child exhibits one or more of the above signs, it may be time you need to see a therapist for help and necessary support.

Why children also need therapy

The public perception of childhood as a period filled with carefree play and enjoyment can be misleading, to an extent. According to Medscape, as much as 10% of children in the United States suffer from serious emotional disturbance that may require help and treatment for the appropriate mental health professionals.

The therapists then work to change the factors that influence these behaviors while also providing consequences for undesired and desired results.
